How to care for your body after a massage

Give yourself a little time after a massage. Drink water normally, choose comfortable movement and notice how your body feels over the next day rather than rushing into intense activity.

Your therapist may point out a stretch or movement that felt useful during the session. Repeat only what feels comfortable and follow any guidance from your regulated healthcare provider when you are managing an injury or medical condition.

Mild temporary tenderness can happen after firm work. Severe, worsening or unusual pain is not something to ignore; contact an appropriate healthcare professional if you are concerned.
